JHK - the copy I used from the 1928 Book of Common Prayer is out of copyright - I checked. I don't know about the others. - MMGB— Preceding unsigned comment added by user MMGB (talkcontribs) 00:09, 3 December 2001 (UTC)

Hi Manning -- as you might guess, it was the others I was worried about! JHK— Preceding unsigned comment added by JHK (talkcontribs) 01:28, 3 December 2001 (UTC)
No probs JHK. By the way, I only discovered you were a gynomorph the other day... (!) For some reason I had always assumed you were male. I'll punish myself for my terrible patriarchal tendencies later. :) - MMGB— Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.210.232.xxx (talkcontribs) 01:36, 3 December 2001 (UTC)
No need, although I am interested in finding out why this was the general assumption -- any clues can go on my page! ;-) JHK— Preceding unsigned comment added by JHK (talkcontribs) 01:46, 3 December 2001 (UTC)

Who said that Jesus was incapable of sin? Didn't he sin in the desert when he was tempted by the devil? Well, he was human- I was taught that Jesus was like us in that respect (well excuse me if my little Catholic teachings aren't good enough for you). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mark (talkcontribs) 06:16, 9 January 2002 (UTC)

Personally I couldn't really care less if Jesus sinned or not, but I'm a heretic :) But traditionally in Christianity (both Catholic and Protestant), Jesus is without sin. Temptation is not the same as sin -- they say Jesus was tempted to sin, but unlike humans he resisted and did not act upon his temptation. I've always wondered how a perfect Son of God could even be tempted to begin with, since being tempted would seem to be some kind of imperfection... and if he's fully human, isn't sin an essential part of being human? but anyway, that's just my point of view... the "official" viewpoint is that he didn't sin at all. -- SJK— Preceding unsigned comment added by SJK (talkcontribs) 06:20, 9 January 2002 (UTC)

I agree that the official viewpoint is that he did not sin. The article currently states that he was incapable of sin, which isn't exactly the same thing. I'm not sure how widely held that incapable part is. Part of the point of the Incarnation was to demonstrate that it's possible to be fully human, yet not sin. I think that may be part of why some theologians speculate that the virgin Mary never committed a sin either. Personally, I don't see that experiencing temptation is an imperfection, any more than an umbrella getting wet in the rain is an imperfection. Now an umbrella that leaks water through a tear has a serious imperfection. Kind of like that analogy I just made up.  :-) --Wesley— Preceding unsigned comment added by user name or IP (talkcontribs) date (UTC)

Temptation is an external force, such as when Jesus was tempted in the desert by Satan (an outside force)...--ThisDude415— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.212.50.132 (talkcontribs) 04:35, 17 September 2005 (UTC)
